Manly, Stewart& Finaldi have represented hundreds of victims of clergy abuse. These cases typically involve Catholic Dioceses. Far less attention has been paid to reports of abuse within the Jewish community especially those involving schools and summer camps.
In 2013 an independent investigation was conducted of sexual abuse of students by staff members at New York’s Yeshiva University . The report concluded that multiple incidents of varying types of sexual and physical abuse took place at Yeshiva University during the relevant time period. This conduct was carried out by a number of individuals in positions of authority at the High Schools affiliated with the University including, in certain instances, after members of the administration had been made aware of such conduct. In addition, the Investigative Team found that, during the relevant time period, sexual and physical abuse took place at other schools comprising the University as well.
As part of the Investigation, the Investigative Team reviewed each individual report of sexual and physical abuse, and the response of the University to any such report. The Investigative Team found that, up until 2001, there were multiple instances in which the University either failed to appropriately act to protect the safety of its students or did not respond to the allegations at all.
It is a sad fact that religious institutions of many faiths have chosen to cover up sexual abuse of children and young adults. The experienced sexual abuse attorneys at Manly, Stewart and Finaldi are experts at uncovering this abuse and holding these institutions accountable in court.
